THRISSUR
Formerly called the Trissivaperoor, known as the cultural
capital of Kerala. The famous Pooram Festival takes place
here in the month of Medam (Mar-Apr). It is the Utsavam
procession of the temple of Shiva in Trichur, marked by
a grand display of highly decorated elephants and fireworks.
Commencing one morning, the celebration continues till

CHERUTHURUTH
This 35km from Thrissur and is famous for the Kalamandalam.
It was founded by Sri Vallathol Narayana Menon in 1930.The
institute imparts training in various traditional art
forms like Kathakali, Mohiniattam, Thullal and folk dances.

This town on the Kozhikode-Quilandy route is famous for
the Kathakali Vidhyalayam, a training center for Kathakali.
